Everyday Chinese Medicine

This course, "Everyday Chinese Medicine," serves as an educational platform to introduce learners to the principles and practices of Chinese medicine (CM), aiming to empower individuals to make informed healthcare choices. The comprehensive curriculum covers an array of topics, including the basic theory of CM, comparison with Western medicine, diagnostic approaches, body constitution, self-care practices like food therapy and meditation, as well as an understanding of commonly used Chinese herbs and acupuncture.

Course Modules

Everyday Chinese Medicine consists of 5 comprehensive modules that cover the basic theory of Chinese medicine, Zang-Fu organs concepts, the relationship between Zang-Fu organs and an introduction of Qi, pathogenesis of diseases, and basics of Chinese medicine diagnostics.

Session 1: Chinese Medicine: Introduction to Basic Theory

The first module, "Chinese Medicine: Introduction to Basic Theory," delves into essential characteristics of Chinese medicine, the theory of Yin and Yang, and the theory of Zang-fu organs. Learners will gain an in-depth understanding of the fundamental principles of Chinese medicine and its application in healthcare.

Session 2: Zang-Fu Organs Concepts in Chinese Medicine

Module 2, "Zang-Fu Organs Concepts in Chinese Medicine," focuses on the specific organs and their functions in Chinese medicine, providing learners with comprehensive knowledge of the roles of the heart, lung, spleen, liver, and kidney in traditional Chinese medicine.

Session 3: Relationship between Zang-Fu Organs; An introduction of Qi in Chinese medicine

"Relationship between Zang-Fu Organs; An introduction of Qi in Chinese medicine," the third module, explores the relationships between Zang-Fu organs and introduces the concept of Qi, a fundamental element in Chinese medicine. Learners will gain insights into how these concepts are applied in traditional Chinese medicine practices.

Session 4: Blood, Body Fluids and Pathogenesis of disease in Chinese Medicine

In Module 4, "Blood, Body Fluids and Pathogenesis of Disease in Chinese Medicine," learners will delve into the theory of blood, body fluids, and Qi, as well as pathogenic factors and pathogenesis in Chinese medicine. This module provides a comprehensive understanding of disease development from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine.

SESSION 5: Basics of Chinese Medicine Diagnostics (I)

The final module, "Basics of Chinese Medicine Diagnostics (I)," covers the introduction of Chinese medicine diagnostics, including inquiry, inspection, listening, and palpation. Learners will develop skills in diagnosing health conditions based on traditional Chinese medicine principles.
