The Juniper Networks Security Fundamentals specialization offers a comprehensive exploration of cybersecurity challenges and Juniper Networks' approach to a complete security solution with Juniper Connected Security. Through this course, students will gain foundational knowledge of security objects, security policies, and configuration tasks, including initial system configuration, interface configuration, security object configuration, security policy configuration, IPsec VPN configuration, and NAT configuration.

The course is divided into three modules:

  1. Juniper Networks Security Concepts and Initial Configuration
  2. Security Features and Advanced Threat Prevention
  3. Security Platforms, IPsec, and Troubleshooting

Throughout these modules, students will delve into security zone objects, screen objects, address objects, and service objects, as well as security policies, IPS, antivirus, antispam, content filtering, and Web filtering. They will also learn about IPsec VPNs, Juniper Secure Connect SSL VPN, and SRX Series troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintenance.

Course Modules

The Juniper Networks Security Fundamentals course is divided into three modules: Juniper Networks Security Concepts and Initial Configuration, Security Features and Advanced Threat Prevention, and Security Platforms, IPsec, and Troubleshooting.

Juniper Networks Security Concepts and Initial Configuration

In the "Juniper Networks Security Concepts and Initial Configuration" module, students will gain an understanding of Juniper’s basic network security design concepts, the Junos operating system (Junos OS), and SRX Series security devices. They will also learn about the Junos CLI and J-Web user interfaces, as well as initial configuration tasks and basic interface configuration. The module covers security zone objects, screen objects, address objects, service objects, and different types of security policies, providing a comprehensive foundation in network security design.

Security Features and Advanced Threat Prevention

The "Security Features and Advanced Threat Prevention" module introduces students to security services such as Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and user-based firewalls, along with their configuration. Additionally, they will explore Juniper’s security features, including antivirus, antispam, content filtering, and Web filtering, as well as the functionality and usage of Juniper ATP Cloud. The module also covers the important feature of firewall security—Network Address Translation (NAT).

Security Platforms, IPsec, and Troubleshooting

The "Security Platforms, IPsec, and Troubleshooting" module focuses on IPsec VPNs, their configuration, implementation, and monitoring. Students will also be introduced to Juniper’s SSL VPN application—Juniper Secure Connect—examining its features, configuration, deployment, and monitoring. Additionally, the module covers SRX Series troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintenance, providing a comprehensive understanding of different types of SRX Series devices and interfaces.
