Course Modules

This Specialization in Health Informatics comprises five courses covering the social and technical context of health informatics, leading change in health IT organizations, outcomes and interventions of health informatics, the data science of health informatics, and a culminating project.

The Social and Technical Context of Health Informatics

This module focuses on articulating a coherent problem definition and plan for addressing healthcare informatics problems. Learners will also create an Informatics Stack analysis of an informatics problem and describe socio-technical aspects of a health informatics problem or solution.

Leading Change in Health Informatics

In this module, learners will learn about leading change in health IT organizations, the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork, and best practices for successful change management in health informatics.

The Outcomes and Interventions of Health Informatics

Module 3 identifies opportunities for healthcare informatics interventions, applies a structured framework for decision support components, and outlines a health informatics solution for decision support.

The Data Science of Health Informatics

This module covers different forms of clinical and population level data, the data required to answer a healthcare information problem, and the distinction between data questions and data queries in healthcare information problems.
